Proud To Be An American
Now that we have been home for over a day, I have taken a look back on the events that have occurred over thpas t month.
With a week left, most people were excited and ready to get back home to the United States. I would consider myself a part of that group because I too was ready to see my family and friends again. But the thing I did not take into account was the friends that I have made on this trip that I would be leaving behind; some only for a few months others for maybe the rest of my life.

We were warned about reverse culture-shock coming back into the United States which I believe I have done a good job coping with. But the hardest thing for me so far is dealing with all the technologies we have available to us here in the United States. It shows how fortunate we are to be American citizens and what we take for granted. When asking Cypriots where the best place to go in the world is we constantly would get the response the United States. Though we were happy to hear this, I was shocked because there are so many beautiful places around Cyprus. But also, the United States diverse landscapes provide for possibly the most unique country in the world.
So what did I learn from this experience in Cyprus. To appreciate what I have in the United States and not take things for granted. Who knew that it would take a Cypriot culture to teach me this understanding.
I loved this experience studying abroad and would not trade it for anything in the world. I will miss seeing the same faces that I saw each day for over a month including the multiple Cypriot friends that we met along the way.
