Who Knew..
This past weekend we traveled to Ayia Napa which is located on the eastern tip of the island. With its beautiful beaches, wild party scene and picturesque landscapes, we knew that this weekend was going to top all the rest. But what we didn’t know was how a city like this would bring the GLS group together

When we arrived in Cyprus, there were two groups of students set to arrive on different days. The first day was when our group (UT students) and a few others met at the airport and traveled to our new home for a month, Nicosia. Then the next day, another group of students arrived and met up with us at orientation. You can imagine how we quickly became accustomed to the new faces that we saw the first night. Cliques started to form which prevented everyone to truly get to know one another. The next few weeks seemed to follow in the same footsteps. The same people would stick together while not inviting the others on each other’s adventures. This all came to an end in Ayia Napa…
Most people can understand the craziness of Cancun or Panama City when it comes to night life. We came to learn that Ayia Napa many times has been named the top party scene in the world. This is mesmerizing due to the fact that Cyprus is the size of New Hampshire. But as college students from the US who have had a beer or two in their life time, we were going to quickly learn what Ayia Napa was all about.
So as the two wolf packs (as Alan from Hangover would say) were about to embark on its journey, all of a sudden both groups decided to merge and become one wolf pack. After a long night of socializing, we quickly realized how much each person has missed out not getting to know everyone. This is one thing I regret. I met many of my fellow students that night (who I already knew) in which I could have seen myself hanging out. It goes to show how a crazy place like Ayia Napa, where you are in an unknown area with a group of people you hardly know, can teach you so much. I learned that you need to go out of your comfort zone in order to experience things in life. That was my main reason of coming to Cyprus. Those reading back home most likely could not point to Cyprus on a map (well before Whit uploaded a map pic of Cyprus). The experiences I had in Ayia Napa were life changing and my goal of leaving Cyprus with a new attitude on life was successful. So for those of you who are looking to have a unbelievable good time and to meet new people, Ayia Napa is calling your name.
