Emma Smegal
In case you didn’t catch it, my name is Emma Smegal and I am a senior at the University Tennessee majoring in Journalism and Electronic Media with a concentration in Media Management graduating in December.
Summer in Cyprus has been on my mind since I first heard about it my freshman year at UT. Since then, I knew I would be going on this trip before I graduated. And since that is in December, this summer was my last chance to take the trip and I am SO happy I chose to!
While I was born in New Mexico, I like to say I grew up in East Tennessee since I moved there at age 9. My whole life my family has traveled all over the United States but never out of the country. I have a love for traveling and I knew I needed to get out of the United States and see more! Thanks to GLS and UT, this was possible through this program.
Anyone who knows me should know that I am 2 things: loud and outgoing. And I plan on using this to my advantage here in Cyprus to meet as many new people as possible and make the most out of this experience. While I will miss everyone back home so much, I know I will have the time of my life this summer!
